No. We must invest – and when I say invest, I mean on a large scale. We have to invest both in de-centralized and compound solutions. The challenge is such that we will need both.
We will probably have to re-install „Municipial Energy Supply“ and state-owned infra-sructural companies. Their management has to be structured in a modern way and be free from the public servant clichè. They should have special legal capacities.
It will not pay if we keep distributing subsidies. Private concerns will not be able to save the day.
But here is something just as important – we will finally have to start using energy in a more sensible way and saving it!
The best incentive for saving is the price. Consequently, the solution is simple, isn’t it? Increase the cost of energy and take the earnings for building solutions that make sense. Of course, this will do damage to old industries. But it will also promote new ones. Because, as we all know, the first step towards innovation is the distruction of old things.
The change will come in any event. And I think it is better to approach it actively than to let yourself be caught unawares by it.
The world we know, the one we love and the one that provides us with all we need in life, is in danger. As I see it, the three most acute threads are the climate change and the pollution of the world with plastics and radioactivity. Maybe wars should also be included in the list.
It is probably not five minutes before noon, but closer to five minutes after. We have to accept the facts and do something about them. Let us put an end to wars and let us work towards our future. It is quite easy! Why should it all sound utopian?
