    It seems to me that the x-axis should show stress or pressure rather than discontent. At the origin, with zero performance, there is zero stress rather than total contentment. People are not content with zero stress; otherwise they would not indulge in competitive (amateur) sport.
    Also the time axis is neglected. People do not go from the zero performance cleavage to high performance when stress is increased. Rather, as stress (pressure) is steadily increased from zero, performance increases until burnout comes. With luck the highest performance may be held for some time. But if pressure is reduced, the worker may suddenly start to feel very tired. Also then he may find time to consider whether he really wants to live like that.
