🙂 If I were the Federal President of Germany, here is what I would do:
- lots of twittering,
- write a post each day,
- give a presentation once in a while,
- mingle with the common people very often and
- once in a while do some representing.
All this would happen diligently, with an emphasis on subjects that concern the people and our world. It might probably happen a little more ethically and with more moral depth, along with a better factual basis than if you do it just as a sideline.
🙂 But, hey, to me this sounds like I am already a little bit Federal President, as probably many of us are.
But here is the professional part of the story:
I would wish to see someone elected Federal President who originated among the common people, who can be identified as an ethically and morally accepted institution and who has a lot of experience in life. He should be honest and capable of good speech. Above all, he should stand above all political, industrial, administrative or military networks and interests. Owing to this, he should be well-respected among people both at home and abroad. We are talking an integer person with charisma.
Even in Germany, you should still be able to find these kinds of personalities.
The method of picking a candidate as it has been now established will not render any such person. We can rest assured that the Federal President will be chosen among politicians according to his party interests and personal strategy for retaining power.
The actual election of the candidate will degenerate and finally be a merely formal acceptance of the political selection.
When, in a totally different time, the office of Federal President was established, there was an entirely different understanding of the word democracy.
🙂 Perhaps we do not need him any more. After all, there are “us”, all the small Federal Presidents.
