After my controversial articles Accursed Land of Pixels (Verflixtes, verpixeltes Land) and Internet Illiterates (Internet-Analphabeten), I am now trying to find a simple explanation for why houses shown in Google Streetview are converted into pixels by their German owners. Here it is:
In our country, the ruling concept is
Miserly is Sexy!
Consequently, we are also miserly when it comes to anybody wishing to look at our houses. As a matter of caution, we do not want anybody to look upon them for free. And strangers finding us through the internet will not be permitted even to look at our homes. We are, after all, a country that excludes people, rather than encouraging immigration.
Miserly is sexy is really a stupid (German?) motto. It might also be the reason why even Bavarian food falls short of the expectations when compared with what they offer in Austria or Switzerland.
So here is my advice:
🙂 Live less miserly and enjoy more. Keep less for yourself and share more. In the end, all will have more. No matter if we are talking pictures, knowledge, Schneider TAP 6 or Côtes du Rhône (insiders only)!
