Once more, I read that going by bike is the most efficient means of transport for humans imaginable. If you ride 350 kilometres, you burn 1 pound of fat!
First and foremost, I am happy, because, after all, I am a passionate biker. Great! A little later, however, I am disappointed:
It means that I only burn 1.4285714 grams of fat per kilometre! Well, I try to find comfort in the fact that, hopefully, the number will be higher if I ride fast or if the wind is coming from the opposite direction or if I go uphill, or if there are other such inclement conditions prevailing. But still – you will not slim down if you keep going places by bike.
Now here is a stupid question:
How much fuel (if we are talking biological fuel, make this kilograms of grain) will your car consume if it has to drive 350 kilometres? After all, you go mostly by yourself in your car, don’t you?
