Living in dire times,
people used to saying:
The past was better than the present.
Or else: Let us make a better future.
Now they say:
The future will be a challenge for all of us.
Gone are the golden times.
And the past?
Well, the past is no longer what it used to be.
So what now?
Fortunately, there is yet another past tense.
The past perfect.
And after that, we still have more.
Maybe salvation lies in the past perfect progressive!
