I wrote the series “Ethical Enterprise” as part of my “entrepreneur’s diary” sitting at the southern tip of Greece in a unique environment. It has been my intention to show that ethical behaviour also make sense for enterprises, rather than that “he who behaves decently is always the one who is punished”.
My place of work while I wrote these articles was at the beach under the Greek sun, and I was inspired by the changing winds of the Mediterranean. It was not my intention to write scientifically. If my texts inspire the reader to start thinking about several things, I have more than succeeded.
After having written under the influence of this magical world, what would logically come next is a discussion and dialectical dispute. I am sure much extra knowledge and wisdom could result from it.
And then someone could write a book in which many things would be formulated a lot more sophisticated and precise. But maybe I was able to describe a sufficient requirement for the “ethical enterprise”, after all, regardless of shortcomings?
This sufficient requirement might be defined as follows:
If an enterprise, based on responsibly adopted values, manages to promote life on all levels (personal, social, cultural, economical, …) then it is an “ethical enterprise”. My friend and mentor Roopert Lay called the principle of multi-dimensional promotion of individual life “the biophilic principle”.
That would mean:
If an enterprise follows the biophilic principles in all its activities, then it is an “ethical enterprise”?!

P.S.
On the pictures, you see the sunrise on our campground, the beach of Diros seen from the cave exit, and the sunset in Neo Itylo. With this article, the series “ethical enterprise” is at its end. Yet I have a few days left for continuing to write in my “entrepreneur’s diary”. So I will discuss the question: What makes you an entrepreneur?
