“Evening Politics!” or “Nothing But Marvels?”

Tonight – around 6 p.m. – I decided to spend a little time listening to rdioWelt on Bayern2.

First, I hear excerpts from an interview with our elected (Bavarian) State President (who was not on the list of people you could vote for). He was asked about the various strategic CSU papers. According to the anchorman, he wants to settle the dispute within the party. Then I hear him say: “In order to know where you want to go, you need guidance rails”. What a beautiful example for applied rhetoric. It is probably a good idea not to put it to the dialectic test.

Then I hear that Jean Sarkozy, 23-year-old son of the great Sarkozy himself who is studying law in the second semester is about to get the job of administrative director in one of the biggest business quarters of Paris. A friend of his father justified the decision as follows: He knew Nicolas when he was 22, and the son is even more talented than the father.

There is a report about weapons originally supplied by the German Armed Forces now appearing on the black market in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Is that really a surprise? After all, it is common knowledge that in corrupt countries the army sells their weapons even to the rebels they are supposed to fight. Could anybody seriously believe that it would be different in Afghanistan?

Another report tells me about red-red in the state of Brandenburg (supposedly, nobody ever wanted to build a coalition with the Leftist party; the only idea ever accepted was being tolerated by them).

And then there is the Jamaica-Coalition in the Saarland, where the Green Party made a sacrifice in order not to let Lafontaine get to power. Now they assure everybody that they certainly never broke a word they gave during the elections.

Last not least, I learn that banks have now changed their business conditions for credit card holders: the card holder is now responsible if his card is lost, no matter if it was his fault or not. I have no idea how I would survive in our modern world without an ec or credit card.

And then I am fed up with it. All that is left for me is to marvel at all the ideas thrown at me during a single day. Not to mention the cheek of some of the parties concerned. I am surprised that none of my contemporaries are upset.

🙂 Well, that leaves me to do the being upset!

P.S.
Sorry, I had to write about politics today. It was an emotional outbreak. In the future, I will refrain from listening to radioWelt. Instead, I will read RadioPhilosophy – Innovative Marvels in the IF blog. Then I will be back with writing about sensible issues.
