Currently, they are again talking party ban for the NPD. And chances are not too bad for a success, either: allegedly, one NPD functionary supported the rightist activists. How lucky for those who want the ban. But basically, it is absurd.
Incidentally, banning the NPD will not be much help. The rightist scene will certainly not be impressed or weakened by it. They might even get stronger. Becaus if you ban someone, they might easily benefit from a kind of “martyr effect“. Besides, all the rightists have to do is create a new party – which it then again first takes time to ban. And so on…
But there is also a good reason for banning the NPD. Most of the citizens – just like me – do not want “federal money“ to end up with rightist radicals via party financing!
This could easily be avoided if we just generally stopped party financing! We would not have to ban anything and would save money on top of it. And we would even please the future EU savings commissioner who, after all, will soon have to have a watchful eye on our debts. And every little helps.
I discussed this notion with several persons who have absolutely different backgrounds. They all found the idea of abolishing party financing rather attractive.
It seems that the majority is in favour of the idea. (Unfortunagely,) however, it might not be all that easy to put into practice! How about a plebiscite?
