… the great ones look old!
Absolutely true and absolutely innovative!
I find this proverb a good one. In fact, I find it brilliant. After all, it precisely describes my own wonderful entrepreneurial motto. One of these days, I will write an entry on the subject in my entrepreneur’s diary.
For the moment, however, I will tell you how I came up with this sentence. Incidentally, it is a rather complex story. And it shows metaphorically how complex knowledge acquisition can sometimes be.
It all started with twitter. Roughly two years ago, I decided to enrol in twitter. It was my impression that you should write 3 to 5 tweeds each day and also present yourself regularly if you wish to have a certain amount of visibility. In order to generate a basic pool for tweets, I decided to look for proverbs that would also contain wisdoms for twitterers and bloggers.
After all, vernicular is full of so many wise sayings. For instance, if analysts tell me that in open markets wealth will eventually always be concentrated among a few, then that sounds familiar to me. After all, there is a proverb that says: The devil will shit on the biggest heap of shit.
The raw material for my undertaking „wisdoms for twitterers and bloggers“ is taken from the website “Alle deutschen Sprichwörter“. What I did was select suitable wisdoms in alphabetical order and then publish them. It is what I still do. Currently, we are into the 77th week, whish means that I now published 7 times 76 plus 4 (including today) makes 500 “Wisdoms” in Twitter. By now, I have reached the letter“K“.
On July, 11th, for instance, my tweet was:
110714 Klein, hurtig und keck stößt den Großen in Dreck – wie beim für Twittern und Bloggen? #Twitter #Bloggen #Weisheit
Evelyn, who mostly does the translations of our blog and transfers tweets into English as well, translated the German text
Klein, hurtig und keck stößt den Großen in Dreck
into:
Small, fast and bold will make the great ones look old!
I, however, with flying fingers on the keyboard, just twittered along without much afterthought, totally missing the brilliance of this line in the process. Only after Dr. Hartmut Feucht posted the tweet
DrHartmutFeucht Hartmut Feucht so true + innovative 🙂 RT @RolandDuerre: Small, fast and bold will make the great ones look old!
did I understand the strength in this message.
Well, you often get the best ideas via complicated roads, don’t you?
Now I know what I should do.
And many thanks to Evelyn (EG)!
