Yesterday when we had dinner, it still rained cats and dogs – now we have glamorous sunshine all around the place. Since we only intend to do a few kilometres today, we enjoy a comfortable morning.
Breakfast was late and leisurely. I looked for a hotel in Constanta near the airport and found two addresses, but no specifics. Let’s wait and see!
Still, it is quite a surprise to realize all the things you can do with google.
Then we depart from Giurgio. For the first ten kilometres, we take the Bukarest motorway. There is not much traffic and it has a broad path at the side for cyclists. Then we turn towards the “mountains”. Perspiration city! But it is worth the effort, because the landscape is absolutely stunning.
I notice that all the drivers of horse-drawn carriages are male. Is the horse-drawn carriage the last bastion of male supremacy?
We arrive in Oltenita at 5 p.m. The town does not make a bad impression, but there is no accommodation to be had. The single hotel in the centre of town is completely booked, so is the recommended pension. Next to it, some gypsies have their campground, behind that is wilderness.
In our quarters, we meet some other wanderers. They travel with their old DACIA (a vehicle that has many similarities with the Renault R12) that is just now undergoing the necessary repair for any further use. The foreman of this group speaks a little German. This is quite exciting, yet strange.
Maybe I do not understand everything. But at least I found a few more small stones of the great mosaic called “life”.
Tomorrow, we want to take another big step forward. The quarters our guidebook describes as being rather doubtful and in a monastery are around 100 kilometres from here. We want to start early.
Good Night!

P.S.
For no reason I can understand, the t-mobile stick is working, so I might as well put this report online right away.
