We had an agreeable night in the sleeping compartment from Good Friday to Holy Saturday. However, at 5.45 a.m., the night was over. The connecting train from Florence to Livorno was on time – at its departure in Florence.
By the time it arrived in Livorno, it was half an hour late. Considering that the entire time it takes is 1.5 hours, it really reminds you of back home … Consequently, the Moby Lines ferry we had planned on taking to Corsica at 9.00 a.m. departed in time and without us on board.
However, this is fine by us, because we are sitting in the sun and enjoying Italy, including the Espresso.
The next ship to Bastia is at 1.30 p.m. – even if it is run by the competition, Corsica Ferries. We already bought the tickets. They were 76 Euros for two persons and two bikes. Travelling is expensive.
Incidentally, the tickets for both bikes from Florence to Livorno were 7 Euros. It was quite a demanding affair purchasing them at the ticket machine of FS. And it was not just the “Druckfase” (this is Italian localisation of the ticket printing process, not modern German orthography) that took long. Even the ticket machines of DB are faster. To make up for it, the tickets are more expensive.
As you can see, the mood is excellent, regardless of our small misfortune. We look forward to the next 8 days of riding through Corsica by bike. Up and down the hills!
And as always, I will try to make a daily entry in my vacation diary.

And the pictures were taken by Barbara. While she enjoys the sun, I write my emails and other stuff.
